Morocco celebrating victory of the U20 world cup

The Morocco U20 national team for the first time in history became the world champion among youth teams, defeating Argentina in the final match with a score of 2-0 on Sunday.
It was Argentina’s eighth final in the history of the tournament, while the Moroccans have reached the final for the first time.
In the title match, Morocco opened the scoring in the 12th minute thanks to a direct free kick by Yassir Zabiri. In the 29th minute Zabiri completed a brace from a pass by Otman Maama, establishing the final score of 2-0.
With the victory over Argentina, the Morocco national team became the world champion among youth teams for the first time. Previously, the team’s best achievement was fourth place at the World Cup in 2005. Also, Morocco became the second African national team in history to win the U20 World Cup after Ghana in 2009.
Meanwhile, Argentina suffered a defeat in the final for the second time in World Cup history, Argentina previously lost to Brazil in 1983.
The 2025 U20 World Cup continued the dramatic tradition of finals, and the tournament matches in Ukraine were broadcast on the respective platforms.
