Sheikh Daood Imran Molaasan

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested an Osun State–based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Daood Imran Molaasan, on account of the circulation of a video in which he and members of his group called for a “Free Palestine” protest.
Sheikh Molaasan, who’s identified as a leader of the Ta’awunu Muslimeen group, was taken into custody after the video went viral on social media, triggering security concerns.
The secret police arrest of Molaasan was part of ongoing intelligence-led operations by the DSS to monitor public gatherings and online mobilisation capable of escalating into threats to public order.
Meanwhile, the DSS has yet to issue an official statement.
However, it was gathered that operatives are examining the content, context and intent of the video, as well as the activities of the group involved, within the scope of Nigeria’s internal security laws.
