Trouble seems to be looming around the Pastor Chris Okafor, the Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, as the Lagos State Police Command has invited him for questioning over allegations of multiple rape, sexual offences, and other conduct considered capable of causing a breach of public peace in the state.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Command confirmed that Pastor Okafor has been served a police invitation letter through his legal representative and is expected to report at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, on Monday, January 5, 2026, by 10:00 a.m. to answer to the allegations.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of SCID to conduct a thorough and comprehensive investigation into the allegations, which include capital offences and other serious crimes.
The police said the investigation has already commenced, adding that full security coverage and protection have been provided for alleged victims. The Command also encouraged anyone who may have been affected by the alleged actions of the pastor to come forward and report their experiences at the SCID, Panti.
“The identities of all victims will be kept absolutely confidential and adequately protected,” the statement assured, stressing that witnesses and individuals with credible information or evidence relevant to the case should feel free to assist the police without fear or apprehension.
Members of the public were advised to reach the SCID either directly or through the Police Public Relations Department at the Lagos State Police Command to support the ongoing investigation.
CP Jimoh reiterated the Command’s commitment to professionalism, transparency, and impartiality, noting that no individual is above the law.
“The Lagos State Police Command remains committed to maintaining law and order, public peace, and safety, and will ensure that all allegations of criminal acts are discreetly and thoroughly investigated in accordance with the law, regardless of the status of the individuals involved,” the statement added.
The police emphasized that sentiment will not be allowed to interfere with the investigation, insisting that justice must prevail in the matter.
