Seyi Tinubu and DJ Chicken

For content creator Ademola Abiodun, popularly known as DJ Chicken, these are bad times. This is because he’s currently cooling his heels in Kirikiri Prison by a Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ogba, Lagos,l.
He was arraigned at the court over allegations of threatening the life of Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.
DJ Chicken was arraigned on Friday before Magistrate M.F. Onamusi on a three-count charge bordering on alleged threat to kill, conduct likely to cause a breach of peace, and offences under the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.
According to the prosecution, the charges stem from a video the social media personality allegedly posted online while commenting on the 2027 presidential election.
Prosecutors told the court that the video contained statements interpreted as a threat against Seyi Tinubu, an offence said to contravene the Criminal Law of Lagos State and the Cybercrime Act.
When the charges were read, DJ Chicken pleaded not guilty.
The court subsequently granted him bail in the sum of ₦1 million with two sureties in like sum. As part of the bail conditions, one surety must be a government employee, while the other must be a recognised community leader with landed property in Lagos State.
The court also directed that both sureties provide evidence of three years’ tax clearance, Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) identification, National Identification Number (NIN), and recent utility bills. In addition, one of the sureties must be a blood relative of the defendant.
