The senator representing
Delta North in the Senate, Senator Ned Nwoko and the immediate past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, have mourned the demise of late Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, who passed in the early hours of Friday.

Nwoko in his condolence message made available to NATIONAL WAVES described the late Nwaoboshi as a consummate party administrator.

He also described the late former lawmaker who was his immediate predecessor as a long standing political figure and dedicated community leader.

He said that Nwaoboshi would be remembered for his notable contributions to the political development of Delta and Anioma land, dating back to the 1990s.

“It is with a profound sense of loss and grief that I received the sad news of the passing of Sen. Peter Nwaoboshi.

“He no doubt contributed immensely to the social and political evolution of Delta as a state, Delta North as well as the Nation, having held key positions as party Chairman, Civil Commissioner and Senator among other offices.

“On behalf of myself, family and political associates, I extend my deep commiseration to the family on this difficult moment of the loss of their patriarch.

“May the Almighty grant the entire family and indeed the people of Oshimili, Anioma and Delta at large the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss” Nwoko said.

While Elumelu expressed deep shock and profound sadness over the demise of Senator Nwaoboshi, he described him as a monumental loss not only to Delta North Senatorial District but to Delta State and Nigeria as a whole, noting that the late senator was a towering figure whose influence on politics and governance will be remembered for generations.

According to Elumelu, Senator Nwaoboshi made immeasurable contributions to the development of Delta State through his visionary leadership, strategic political engagements, and untiring dedication to the growth of democratic institutions. He noted that the late senator played a pivotal role in political party organisation and grassroots politics in Delta State, earning him the revered nickname, “the Oracle of Politics”, due to his deep insight, foresight, and mastery of political strategy.

Elumelu further highlighted Senator Nwaoboshi’s impactful service at the National Assembly, particularly his leadership of the National Assembly Committee on the Niger Delta, where he leveraged his position to attract uncommon development projects and interventions to the Niger Delta region and Delta State in particular.

He said Nwaoboshi’s legislative contributions and advocacy significantly advanced infrastructural development and improved the welfare of the people of the region.

“The death of Senator Peter Nwaoboshi has created a deep and painful void in the politics of Delta State,” Elumelu stated, adding that his experience, counsel, and stabilising influence will be greatly missed within political circles and beyond.

The former Minority Leader condoled the people of Ibusa, Delta North Senatorial District, the Government and people of Delta State, the National Assembly, and Nigerians in general over the irreversible loss.

Elumelu prayed for the repose of the soul of Senator Peter Nwaoboshi and the souls of all the faithful departed, asking that through the mercy of God, the late senator be granted eternal rest, while God gives his family, associates, and loved ones the strength of mind to bear the loss.
