For the second time in six months, fire has gutted the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, the latest incident occurred on Sunday.
Recall that on February 23, 2026, smoke and fire broke out on the 4th and 5th floors of Terminal 1, causing passengers to flee temporarily.
The recent incident sent passengers and airport workers into a frenzy.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) confirmed the incident, assuring the public that emergency responders had moved swiftly to contain the blaze.
In a statement, FAAN said no casualties or fatalities had been recorded, while its Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Service (ARFFS) was working to bring the situation under control.
“The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) wishes to inform the public that a fire incident has occurred at Terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos,” the agency said.
“The FAAN Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Service (ARFFS) is currently responding to the incident and working diligently to contain the situation.
“There have been no reported casualties or loss of life. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.”
