As Nigerian gospel music continues to gain international attention, with the new generation of worship ministers taking the message of Christ to audiences beyond the traditional boundaries of the church.
One of the emerging voices making an impression is gospel minister and singer Joe Trex, whose combines contemporary African sounds with a strong emphasis on worship and the presence of God.
Joe Trex whose real name is Joseph Oyinlola professionally has continued to build his music ministry through worship projects, live ministrations and collaborations within the gospel music community.
His musical expression cuts across contemporary gospel, Afro-gospel and worship, with songs that seek to draw listeners into deeper fellowship with God. His approach to music places emphasis not only on musical performance but also on the message behind each song.
He has also had opportunities to minister on platforms alongside some of the respected names in Nigerian and African gospel music. He has shared stages with established gospel ministers including Sinach, Eben, Ebuka Songs, Abbey Ojomu, Folabi Nuel and Neon Adejo, among others.
These platforms have provided opportunities for the emerging minister to reach diverse audiences while continuing to develop his own identity within the gospel music space.
Joe Trex music ministry includes songs like “We Wait (Spirit of the Living God),” “I No Fear” and other worship-focused releases.
Presently he is working on a musical project titled “Hallelujah song” which will be released 22nd , October 2026.
He said that the project is expected to further showcase his artistic direction, with songs centred on worship, the character of God and the believer’s response to His presence.
For Joe Trex, music is more than entertainment. His ministry is built around what he describes as an expression of salvation through music — a conviction reflected in the meaning behind his name, TREX: The Real Expression of Salvation.
Speaking about his musical journey, Joe said he started singing since age 7 with the influence of his father a Juju musician turned Pastor,”aside this i have consistently emphasised the importance of remaining focused on Christ while developing excellence and structure around the my music ministry”.
His growing presence within gospel music circles has also seen him participate in worship events and Christian programmes in Nigeria and the United Kingdom, particularly in the UK where he is based.
As African gospel music continues to expand globally, Music ministers such as Joe Trex represent a generation seeking to combine the richness of African musical expression with the timeless message of the Gospel.
With new music, live worship engagements and further projects ahead, Joe Trex is positioning himself as one of the emerging voices to watch within the contemporary gospel music scene.
