Air Peace is in the news again, this time for the wrong reason. Its about how Air Peace plane veered off the runway after landing at the Port Harcourt International Airport.

Air Peace confirmed the incident in a statement signed by Osifo-Whiskey Efe, its spokesperson.

The incident was said to have occurred on Sunday morning.

The airline said flight P47190, which operated from Lagos to Port Harcourt, had a runway excursion after a safe landing.

“Air Peace confirms that its Flight P47190, operating from Lagos to Port Harcourt this morning, had a runway excursion after landing safely at the Port Harcourt International Airport,” the statement reads.

“The aircraft veered slightly off the runway without any damage.”

According to Air Peace, all passengers disembarked safely and calmly, with no injuries recorded.

The airline reassured the public of its unflinching commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety in its operations.

In 2019, an aircraft operated by the aviation company skidded off the runway of the same airport upon landing.

Recall that passengers on board an Air Peace aircraft were exasperated and furious as the aircraft struck and killed an antelope while taxiing at the Asaba Airport on Saturday, May 10, 2025

This culminated to the aircraft being grounded.

The unexpected development led to an abrupt but significant flight delays and frustration among passengers even as the officials of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), while confirming the incident, described it as a rare wildlife encounter.

The NCAA however said that the airline is still responsible for assisting affected travellers.
