President Muhammadu Buhari seems to have had enough of excuses from the service chiefs ovr the spate of insecurity in the country and earlier today gave new marching orders to his Military Service Chiefs, warning that he will no longer tolerate excuses from them over failure to quell the rising level of insecurity that has brought anguish on citizens.

During a meeting with the Service Chiefs at the Presidential Villa Abuja, Buhari said they’ve not done their best in curbing the issue of insecurity in the country.

Buhari’s misgivings at the meeting was made known to state House Correspondents by the National Security Adviser (NSA), Maj. Gen. Babagana Monguno (Rtd.).

The President also warned that “excuses will no longer be tolerated,” noting that he expected them to live up to expectations since their appointment in 2015.

Monguno disclosed that the President was unhappy with the current state of security in Nigeria.

The NSA quoted President Buhari as saying the best of the security chiefs was not good enough for the challenges facing the nation.

He disclosed that the president also expressed displeasure over the lack of synergy amongst security forces.

The rising spate of killings occasioned by banditry, insurgency and other criminal activities has been jangling nerves in recent months as citizens stormed the streets this week protesting the state of security in the country including in Buhari’s home state of Katsina, where bandits have continued to attack communities incessantly.
