The Honourable Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji, has officially inaugurated the constituted Board of the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP). The board, chaired by *Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi, CON*, was unveiled during a formal ceremony held at NOTAP headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria.
The inauguration, which also marked the board’s inaugural meeting, was facilitated by the Director-General/CEO of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), *Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi*, in alignment with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda to reposition Nigeria as a hub for technological excellence and homegrown innovation.
Welcoming the board members, *Dr. Obiageli Amadiobi*, Director-General and CEO of NOTAP, presented a comprehensive overview of the agency’s vision, mission, historical evolution, and strategic objectives. She emphasised the importance of the board’s role in supporting NOTAP’s mandate to drive indigenous technology development and promote effective technology transfer for national growth.
Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi, appointed by *President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR*, expressed appreciation for the trust placed in him and reaffirmed the board’s commitment to fulfilling its mandate. He outlined the agenda for reforming and revitalising NOTAP, with a focus on policy strengthening, stakeholder collaboration, and improved institutional efficiency.
The event was graced by distinguished personalities from the Renewed Hope administration, including *Prince Ade Omole*, *Dr. Ruqayya Ahmed*, and *Hon. Udeme Ukpe*, alongside senior management staff of NOTAP and other stakeholders in the science and technology ecosystem
