Nigeria’s First Lady, Remi Tinubu

Nigeria’s first lady, Oluremi Tunubu, has emerged as the National Chronicle African Woman Of The Year 2025.
This much was disclosed in a statement by the management of the National Chronicle Newspaper.
The statement made available to NATIONAL WAVES Newspaper reads “National Chronicle Newspaper is proud to announce that Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has been named African Woman of the Year 2025.
“The distinguished recognition follows a competitive selection process in which Senator Tinubu emerged ahead of the First Ladies of South Africa, Mrs.Teshepo Motesepe Ramaphosa and Rwanda, Mrs. Jeannette Kagamel who placed second and third respectively.
According to the award committee, Senator Tinubu’s extensive humanitarian interventions and unwavering commitment to social development across Nigeria and beyond set her apart. Her contributions, particularly in women empowerment, youth development, and welfare support initiatives, have earned widespread acclaim, positioning her as one of the most impactful First Ladies on the African continent.
The statement further reads “Her humanitarian gestures are second to none in Africa,”
The organizers highlighted her consistent advocacy for vulnerable populations and her dedication to national development.
The National Chronicle Newspaper further noted that Senator Tinubu now joins a distinguished list of past honourees, including the former First* Lady, Turai Yar ‘Adua, wife of late former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, among other notable African women who have made significant societal contributions.
The award will be formally presented during the National Chronicle Newspaper Lecture Series and Awards Ceremony, scheduled to hold on April* 30 , 2026 , at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
The annual event is expected to attract top government officials, policymakers, business leaders, and members of the diplomatic community, serving as a platform to celebrate excellence, leadership, and service across various sectors.
Other distinguished individuals and organizations will also be honoured at the event for their outstanding contributions in their respective fields, include Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi state, Dauda Lawal , governor of Zamfara state, Pastor DK Olukoya , GO of MFM, Barr. Seyi Tinubu , Sen. Dickson Seriaki, Chief Mike Ogiadohme, Dr. Abdulsalam Ogbemudia, Dr. Cornelius Ikalumhe , Abike Dabiri Erewa, Mrs. Betty Akeredolu, Pastor Evenly Joshua, Chief Emmanuel Oritsejolomi, Akhahon Anenih, Prof. Sylvester Odion Akaine, Dr. Ben.
