Popular Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido has said that he currently has no preferred presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections, adding that he will not support the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 presidential election.
The singer disclosed this during an interview on News Central TV on Tuesday.
Responding to questions about political endorsements and addressing his uncle, Governor Ademola Adelekeās declaration of support for President Bola Tinubu, Davido clarified that his personal political convictions remain independent.
āMy uncle, immediately he won, came out to declare his support for Tinubu, but for me, Iām not propelled to support anybody. I personally havenāt seen anybody,ā he stated.
Recalling his past political engagements, Davido said that while he had previously supported opposition figures and cross-party alignments, his current stance remains uncommitted.
āIn the past, yes, Iāve supported Atiku before when we were in PDP, and I supported in 2015 when APC first did the merger; my late uncle Isiaka Adeleke (Serubawon) was part of the APC, I campaigned then,ā he said.
He, however, emphasised that his political position ahead of 2027 remains completely open, except for the APC.
āRight now I donāt have a presidential candidate. It might change, but itās not going to be APC. Everybody should have their choice,ā Davido added.
Davidoās comments come amid heightened public attention
following his prominent role during the Osun State election cycle, where he mobilised voters and advocated for transparent election results.
