This is the sad story of how the wife and three children of the late former Niger State Commissioner of Education, Abubakar Daja, died in a road crash which occurred on Sunday involving a Sienna and a Mazda.
Daja, who hailed from the Mashegu Local Government Area, died in 2025 and was the Education Commissioner during the country’s return to democracy in 1999. He did two terms, which ended in 2007.
It was reliably gathered that Daja’s wife and his four children were travelling in the Mazda from Minna to Mokwa-Bida Road when the accident occurred.
Daja’s wife and his three children died on the spot, while the only surviving passenger in the car was his teenage daughter.
Daja’s wife was said to have suffered severe injuries, including a broken rib and shoulder.
An eyewitness from Mokwa Local Government Area, Salihu Abubakar, told our correspondent that he was not confident that the late Daja’s daughter, who was unconscious and had suffered severe injuries, would survive the injuries.
An eye witness simply known as
Saadu, confirmed the accident on Sunday night, she stated that the accident involved 18 passengers.
“As at the time of rescue, 18 people were involved: seven injured, seven killed and four not injured.
“The crassh occurred around 11:30am.
“Along Kutigi-Bida Road at Shebe Village,” she said in a WhatsApp message.
