Obi of Onicha-Olona, Obi Emmanuel Okeibu Metuiwe

The historic town of Onicha-Olona, in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, witnessed a massive cultural spectacle on December 25, 2025, as the revered Onotu Institution crowned His Royal Majesty, Obi Emmanuel Okeibuno Metuiwe, as the Obi of the kingdom.
The traditional coronation, held on Christmas Day, was conducted under the leadership of High Chief Osita Olunwa, the Iyase of Onicha-Olona Kingdom and the traditional Prime Minister, in line with age-old customs and traditions of the community.
The event attracted traditional rulers, chiefs, sons and daughters of the community, as well as dignitaries from within and outside Delta State. Traditional dances, cultural displays and symbolic rites featured prominently, highlighting the rich heritage of the Onicha-Olona people.
Speaking at the ceremony, community leaders described the coronation as a historic milestone that signals a new era of peace, unity and development for the kingdom. They expressed optimism that the reign of Obi Metuiwe would foster cultural preservation and socio-economic growth in the area.
The Christmas Day coronation was described by many attendees as a fitting blend of tradition and celebration, reaffirming the relevance of traditional institutions in contemporary governance and community development.
