Fear and panic have gripped residents of Ijalu area of Egbe in the Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State as suspected terrorists abducted a woman and her toddler during a raid on Wednesday.
The victims were identified as Mrs. Idowu Kemi Titilayo and her young child, who were reportedly taken away by the armed assailants during the attack along the Solid Rock School axis of the community.
Sources squeal that the terrorists stormed the area at about dusk, firing sporadically and causing residents to flee for safety.
A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity for security reasons, said the attackers operated for several minutes without resistance before whisking away the victims.
“The terrorists came suddenly and everybody started running. They were heavily armed and people could not confront them. They abducted Mrs. Kemi and her little child and disappeared into the surrounding area before help could come,” the source said.
