The police in Abuja have arrested one Mrs Rukayat Muhammed who absconded when her secret lover died in a hotel in Abuja. The police also arrested two men, Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus
who dumped the lifeless body of the man under Katampe bridge Abuja in August 2026.
This much was disclosed by the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command Abuja, Ahmed Sanusi at a press conference on Saturday September 26,2026.
The CP said Rukayat, a married woman was in a romantic relationship with the deceased and she saved his name as Safiyat.
On or about August 27, 2026 the pair checked into Good Samaritan Hotel Abuja. And in the process of their dalliance Rukayat discovered that her male companion was dead.
Rather than inform the Hotel staff. She picked the man’s phone and disappeared from the hotel.
After waiting for the pair to check out two hotel staff went to their room and repeated knocking did not yield any results. The door of the room was forced open and they discovered the dead body. Rather than report to the police, Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus removed the body and transported it to the Bridge area and dumped the body there.
The police first got wind of the incident when the family reported him missing. Through technical investigation detectives discovered that the last person he communicated with via his phone was Rukayat and she was traced and arrested and she came clean with what happened and led detectives to the Hotel and further investigation revealed what happened to the lover man.
The CP said “In the course of the investigation, we discovered that the deceased’s mobile phone was missing. This became a significant lead in the investigation, and our operatives commenced efforts to track the device and establish its last known location and usage.
Although the phone had been switched off, investigators traced the deceased’s last known communication to Mrs Rukayat Muhammed of Garki Area 2
Investigations also revealed that Muhammed, a married woman, was allegedly in a romantic relationship with the deceased and saved his contact as “Safiyat” on her phone.
On the day of the Incident, the pair lodged at Good Samaritan Guest House, Second Avenue, Gwarimpa, where Muhammed discovered that the deceased was no longer breathing. Rather than immediately reporting the incident to the Police, the suspect took the deceased’s mobile phone and left the hotel.
Some hours later, after attempts by the hotel management to contact the occupants of the room failed, the room was accessed and the deceased’s body was found.
Instead of reporting the discovery to the Police, two members of the hotel management identified as Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus subsequently removed the body from the room and transported it to Kubwa expressway by Katampe under the bridge where they dumped it by the roadside.
The exact cause and circumstances of the deceased’s death are still under investigation, other investigative processes are being pursued to determine the full facts of the case.
