NNPCL GCEO, Bayo Ojulari

A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court has given the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Bayo Ojulari, 14 days to show cause why an order for his arrest and prosecution for alleged money laundering should not be issued.
Justice Mohammed Madugu further ordered the service of court processes on the parties and for the service to be deemed as proper before the court.
The orders followed an ex parte application by a civil society organisation, the Incorporated Trustees of Initiative for Promotion of Civic Obligation and Sustainable Peace seeking to compel the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Attorney General of the Federation to direct the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate Ojulari.
Justice Madugu further ordered accelerated hearing and determination of the suit after listening to the motion, which was moved by Daniel Edeachi for the civil society organisation.
According to the enrolled order of the court dated December 5, 2025, the motion, the affidavit, which was deposed to by Ugoh Michael Toochi, is seeking a detailed investigation by EFCC and other security agencies against the GCEO for alleged cases of money laundering, operation of foreign accounts, and non-asset declaration among others.
The court has fixed January 19, 2026 for further hearing.
