The Minister of Transportation, Said Ahmed Alkali, has resigned.
He resigned his appointment in compliance with a presidential directive mandating political appointees with aspirations for elective offices to step down.
Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Minister of Transportation, Alkali Jibril, in a press statement stated that
Alkali’s resignation, which has been formally accepted by Bola Ahmed Tinubu, paves the way for his participation in the forthcoming governorship election.
The outgoing minister expressed gratitude to the President for the privilege to serve, noting that his tenure recorded notable strides in the nation’s transportation sector.
This is just as the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has debunked the rumours making the rounds that he has resigned.
Adelabu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Bolaji Tunji, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan on Tuesday that the report was fake and misleading.
He urged practitioners in the fourth estate of the realm to uphold professionalism by fact-checking the source of information before spreading such a story.
