Engineer Mojeed Alabi Balogun

The chairman of lkeja local government, Engineer Mojeed Alabi Balogun, said they upheld the late Chief Kemi Nelson Advise by creating concrete and outstanding legacies, this was her wish for the people and l honoured it.
Speaking during a media parley organised by Giant Women in Media led by Clementina Olomu, Balogun says he concentrated on all squares of the need of the people, from their financial, human and capital wellness of both the staff, management and residents.
Speaking on health, Balogun,who dwell on the importance of sound health, said a sick mind will be less productive. He maintain that caring for the wellbeing of those within his jurisdiction was imperative.
He stated that he has a sustainable development partnership with the State and National health programmes, including Lagos Health Child Project (Health Bee Programme); Materna Child Health Programmes; Introduction of measle vaccine Doses; COVID-19 vaccination programme; LASSA fever prevention and control; Mother and Child Infant Programme. He says he has a.monthly provision of drugs to staff clinic, including provision of financial motivation and palliative for COVID-19 frontline health workers, in the wake of the deadly disease..
He stated further, that he ensured a sustainable development initiatives in all Primary Health Centers (PHCs) in Ikeja. During covid, there was production and mass distribution of face masks and Nose covers to residents in Ikeja and in all PHCs. Production and mass distribution of hand sanitizers as well to residents
He embarked on mass distribution of Hand sanitizers to Primary Health Centers, Community Development Association and Public Primary and Secondary Schools. Distribution of Handwashing center to public centers in Ikeja LGA. Metering of all Primary health centers. Renovation and physical infrastructural upgrades of Primary Health Centers (PHCs).
He provided medical support for pregnant women (ante-natal care services) and aged groups. He provided modern and sophisticated health equipment in all PHCs and employed additional health workers as contract staff for smooth running of PHCs.
He stated further, that under challenging circumstances the council provided the needed support to provide succour to help the needy.
Hence his poverty allivation and empowerment program was a top notch. He embarked on the distribution of food palliative to vulnerable groups; Elderly, Women. And Children in phases, with an annual massive empowerment to over 5000 traders, artisans and market women
He also created an annual massive youth empowerment and skill acquisition, couple with an annual Cash support palliative for Aged groups, including periodic and regular cash support for widows and widowers.. Provision of motor vehicles for religious groups (CAN and Islamic clerics) and Community Development Committee (CDC). There was an annual presentation of poverty alleviation equipment/cash gift.
Speaking further he said he was particularly impressed by the educational growth of the council, adding that he was proud to make impactive contributions to education and knowledge.
According to him, the council distributed free exercise books (Iwe Mojeed) for all public schools within his jurisdiction. He constructed blocks of classrooms in State primary school, Onilekere, Ikeja, with administrative section in State primary school, Onilekere, Ikeja. Physical infrastructural Development of primary schools in Ikeja.
He provided modern and sophisticated chairs, tables and desks for effective use of school children. Rehabilitation of blocks of classrooms in Anifowoshe Primary School.
Payment of overhead cost for public school teachers in Ikeja local government area. Free Adult literacy classes with free learning materials
Regular free vocational training.
Distribution of hand-wash stations to all public primary schools.
On ENVIROMENTAL SERVICES, they had regular and periodic clearing and distilling of drainages
Regular and periodic fumigation exercises of residential blocks and offices in Ikeja Local Government Area. Including Regular clearing of illegal refuse, Periodic sanitation exercises

On WORKS AND INFRASTRUCTURE, indeed this is huge, according to him, there were several road upgrades, road rehabilitation and road developments. Just to mention a few are the road upgrades and development in Olawaiye street, Road upgrade and development in Anifowoshe, in Samota Faola Street, in Church street, in SeiduAjibowu Street, in Fadeyi street, including drainage upgrade and construction in Anifowoshe, Rehabilitation of Alausa ward, construction in Alausa ward, road rehabilitation in Balogun street, in Obey street, Obanta road, in Illo street, in Isale Awori street, in Modupe street, in Itohan street, drainage reconstruction of makinde street, Alausa, Ikeja
Road and drainage reconstruction of Odewale street, Alausa, Ikeja. In some areas, they embarked on both.

adequate security measures within the Council secretariat

constructed new 3-floor administrative building
Construction of new Legislative building – 2-floor storey building, reconstruction and remodeling of Ikeja House Office of the Executive Chairman and other Principal officers. Infact, there’s a remodeling of old administrative building, with construction of lock-up shops for commercial activities.
The chairman urged all to sustain the legacy, calling on staff to be productive at all times and be ready to to contribute their quotas without looking back, stressing that all hands must be on the deck to make Ikeja council great.
Balogun concluded that the success recorded during his tenure was achieveable because of the cooperations of members of staff, management personnel, including that of the residents within his jurisdiction.
