President of the United States of America (USA), Donald Trump has announced the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife.
Trump made the announcement on Saturday, in a post via his Truth Social media account.
“The United States of America has successfully carried out a large-scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the country.
“This operation was done in conjunction with U.S. Law Enforcement.
There will be a news conference today at 11 A.M. at Mar-a-Lago. Thank you for your attention to this matter,” President Trump wrote.
The development comes a few months after the United States government doubled the reward for information leading to Maduro’s arrest to $50 million.
The United States had indicted Maduro and several senior Venezuelan officials for their alleged role in international drug trafficking.
