That Manchester United have sacked head coach Ruben Amorim, is no longer news. The club confirmed in a dramatic decision on Monday, 5 January 2026, via a statement.
Amorim who
joined the Red Devils in November 2024, was sacked amid growing dissatisfaction with the team’s performances and recent comments that exposed internal tensions at Old Trafford.
At the exit of Amorim, Manchester United tenure was sixth in the Premier League table. He was relieved of his job less than 24 hours after he publicly criticised the club’s hierarchy during a press conference following a 1–1 draw with Leeds United.
The club’s leadership it was learnt acted swiftly after the controversial interview in which Amorim made pointed remarks about his role and authority, amplifying pressure on the Portuguese boss less than two seasons into his reign.
Manchester United have since replaced Amorim with
former club star, Darren Fletcher.
