One of the two representatives of Africa, Morocco have qualified for the quarter finals of thev ongoing 2026 World Cup after defeating co-host Canada 3-0
Azzedine Ounahi scored twice for Morocco, with stars Achraf Hakimi and Brahim Díaz each recording an assist. Díaz also assisted Soufiane Rahimi for Morocco’s third goal. Despite striker Ismael Saibiri exiting early with an injury, Morocco’s attack was clinical as it advanced to the round of 16.

Canada became the first of the three co-host nations to be eliminated from the tournament, but Canadian players can hold their heads high after qualifying for their first-ever knockout stage and winning their first-ever knockout match, beating South Africa in the round of 32. Morocco advanced to the quarterfinal for the second straight World Cup, where it could face France.
