Yilwatda Emerges As APC Chairman, Basiru As Secretary

APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda

Professor Nentawe Yilwatda has been elected as the chairman of the All Progressives Congress while Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru emerged as the National Secretary of the party.

They were elected during the National Convention of the APC held on Friday at Eagle Square in Abuja.

Yilwatda will be assisted by two Deputy National Chairmen: Ali Bukar Dalori representing the North and Dr. Benjamin Obi Nwoye representing the South while Prof. AbdulKarim Abubakar Kanabl was elected as Deputy National Secretary.

Murtala Aliyu Kankia was named National Legal Adviser, while Uguru Mathew Ofoke assumed the position of National Treasurer. Amb. Haruna Ginsau was elected National Financial Secretary.

Muhammad Sulaiman Argungu OFR was selected as National Organising Secretary, and Donatus Enyinnah Nwankpa as National Welfare Secretary. Felix Morka emerged as the National Publicity Secretary, with Sen. Abubakar Maikafi appointed as National Auditor.

Among other significant appointments, Dr. Mary A. Idele was elected National Women Leader, and Dayo Isreal became National Youth Leader. Aare Durotolu Oyebode Bankole was designated National Leader for Persons with Disabilities.

Further positions were assigned as follows: Hammam Adamu Ali Kumo as Deputy National Financial Secretary, Barr. Emeka Okafor as Deputy National Organising Secretary, and Zainab Abubakar Ibrahim as Deputy National Women Leader. Hon. Meseko Durosinmi Josiah was elected Deputy National Publicity Secretary, while Dr. Christopher Michael Akpan became Deputy National Welfare Secretary.

Mr. Olugbenga Olayemi emerged as Deputy National Auditor, Barr. Ibrahim Salawu as Deputy National Legal Adviser, and Engr. Ben Akak as Deputy National Treasurer. Jamaludeen Kabiru was chosen as Deputy National Youth Leader.

The convention also confirmed National Ex-officio members representing each region: Dr. Opawoye Oluwatoyin Bunmi (North Central), Adamu Jallah (North East), KanoMuhammed Jamu Yusuf (North West), Hon. Ikechukwu Umeh (South East), Mr. Francis Kolokolo (South South), and Hon. Bunmi Orinowo (South West).
