K1
By Toyin Williams
The move by popular fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, professionally known as Kwam1 or K1 De Ultimate, to aspire for the Awujale ancestral stool
throne has suffered a set back as the chairman of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, Oloriebi, has said that the musician lacks any genealogical connection to the Jadiara Royal House
Recall that K1 made his intention to ascend the ancestral stool known in a letter addressed to Fusengbuwa Ruling House on Wednesday December 3, 2025.
Kwam1 in his proposal said his decision aligns with the provisions of the Ogun State chieftaincy laws and the Ijebu customary law.
The 68-year-old who traced his eligibility to his royal lineage of Jadiara line of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House in Agunsebi Quarters, cited his 50 years of cultural advocacy through his music.
“I, Otunba Wasiu Ayinde Adewale Olasunkanmi Omogbolahan Anifowoshe, MON, formally notify the Fusengbuwa Ruling House of my intention to be considered for the vacant stool of the Awujale of Ijebuland”.
Reacting to K1’s letter, the chairman of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, Oloriebi, Otunba Prince Akinola Odedina
said that the musician lacks any genealogical connection to the Jadiara Royal House, a claim that has sparked a public dispute over the upcoming Awujale succession.
In a letter dated 7 December 2025, addressed to the Deputy Chairman, Vice‑Chairman and other officials of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, Oloriebi wrote: “I can say categorically that Wasiu has no genealogical lineage to Jadiara Royal House.” He added that the house had provided Anifowose with a nomination form to verify his lineage, but the nominee had not submitted the required documents.
The Jadiara Royal House, which is awaiting proof of Anifowose’s ancestry, said it will keep the public informed as the matter develops. The letter was copied to the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR; the Executive Chairman of Ijebu‑Ode Local Government; the Ogun State Commissioner for Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs; the Attorney‑General; the Secretary of Ijebu‑Ode Local Government; and the Chairman of the Awujale Interregnum Administration Council.
The Fusengbuwa Ruling House further urged all parties to await the outcome of the verification process before making further statements.
