Zenith Bank has made it easier for its customers to take part in the biggest share sale Nigeria has ever seen — the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals IPO.

Whether you prefer using your phone, your laptop, or walking into a branch, Zenith Bank now offers more than one way to apply for these shares, both for Nigerians at home and those in the diaspora.
Let’s break down what this IPO is about, and how to use Zenith Bank to get in.

What is happening?

Dangote Petroleum Refinery, the huge refinery in Lekki that many Nigerians already know about, is now selling shares to the public.

This follows approval from Nigeria’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and the release of the official offer document, known as the prospectus, on September 7, 2026.
The subscription window opened on September 14, 2026, and will close on October 13, 2026. After that date, the shares are expected to list on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), likely in late November.

How much does it cost?

Each share is priced at ₦525. The lowest amount you can apply for is 10 shares, which comes to ₦5,250. You can apply for more, in the multiples stated in the prospectus.
In total, Dangote is offering 4.1 billion shares.

If the offer sells out fully, the company could raise about ₦2.15 trillion, and the refinery’s value would sit near $49 billion.

That would make this the biggest public share sale Nigeria has ever recorded, and one of the largest in Africa.

Why does this matter to the everyday person?

For a long time, big investment deals like this were mostly for the wealthy, or for people who already understood how the stock market works. This offer is different.

The minimum amount is small enough that many working-class Nigerians can take part, not just large investors or institutions.
Other ways to subscribe
You are not limited to the app alone.

Zenith Bank is one of the official receiving banks for this offer, and a designated electronic application channel, which means there are several ways to apply, depending on what is most convenient for you.

Aside from the mobile app, you can also subscribe through the Zenith Bank website, through internet banking, via USSD on your phone, through corporate internet banking if you are applying on behalf of a company, or by walking into any Zenith Bank branch nationwide.

This also means Nigerians living abroad, in the diaspora, are not left out, since many of these channels, especially the website and internet banking, can be accessed from anywhere in the world.

What you will need
Your Bank Verification Number (BVN), which confirms your identity.
A CSCS number, which is the account that will hold your shares once you own them.

If you don’t have one yet, it can usually be set up in a short time.

A funded account, since payment is required in full at the point you apply.
Once these are ready, the whole application can be completed in a few minutes, on whichever channel works best for you.

Important dates to remember

Subscription opened: September 14, 2026. Subscription closes: October 13, 2026.

Expected listing on NGX: around late November 2026.

If you are interested, it is best not to wait until the final days, since applications need time to process before the window shuts for good.

In summary
This is one of the simplest ways for everyday Nigerians, at home or abroad, to own a stake in one of the biggest companies on the continent, without needing to know how the stock market normally works.

Zenith Bank’s part in it is to make the process smooth, fast, and accessible, whether you prefer the app, the website, internet banking, USSD, corporate internet banking, or a visit to any branch nationwide.

Get your BVN and CSCS details ready, choose the channel that suits you, and apply before October 13, 2026, so you are not among those counting missed chances after the window closes.
