Popular Nollywood actress, Omotunde Ogundimu is literally begging for help from the roof top as she appealed to Nigerians for financial support after revealing that she is battling cervical cancer.
Cervical cancer is a disease where abnormal cells in the lining of the cervix (the lower, narrow part of the uterus that connects to the vagina) grow out of control.
Speaking during an interview on Tuesday, the actress said she has been living with severe pain since she was diagnosed with the disease and can no longer afford the cost of her treatment.
“I’m going through severe pain. I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. I don’t know where I got it from. I don’t look for people’s trouble; I’m an easy-going person,” she said.
Ogundimu explained that her children have been doing everything they can to support her, but they have spent all they have on her medical care.
“My children have spent all they have. They are now using all their income to take care of me and can no longer take care of themselves. I thank God for blessing me with my children,” she said.
The actress said she had avoided asking the public for help but has now reached a point where she has no other choice.
“I had refused to seek help from the public, but now I don’t have any option. I know some people will help me, while others may mock me. Nigerians, please have mercy on me. I just want to get well. The pain is too much,” she pleaded.
Ogundimu also shared that she is a widow and a single mother of three. According to her, she lost her husband in 2012 and has been raising their children alone ever since.
She further revealed that she has struggled to get acting jobs in recent years despite reaching out to colleagues in the movie industry.
“I don’t usually get jobs. I have called my colleagues to beg them for movie roles, but none of them did. If I have offended anyone in the industry, please forgive me,” she said.
The veteran actress, who said she has spent 35 years in the film industry, appealed to colleagues and members of the public to come to her aid as she continues her fight against cervical cancer.
