Your soar away news platform, NATIONAL WAVES was among the two online news media outlets that broke the story of the arrest of Aisha Achimugu, the flamboyant Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Felak Concept Group by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) six weeks ago.
NATIONAL WAVES had on March 12, 2025 published a report titled “EFCC Arrests Abuja Celebrity Woman, Aisha Achimugu”.

Shortly after the report, which currently has over 1000 views despite not being broadcast on our social media handles was published, an aide of Mrs Achimugu contacted the publisher and insisted that the report was incorrect and tagged it as fake news but our dependable source maintained that Mrs Achimugu was invited to appear at the anti-graft agency office, quizzed , detained, granted bail and requested to report back few days later.
Based on this, we maintained our stand and left the story on our website.
Desirous of discrediting our report, Achimugu’s handlers issued a widely circulated press statement dismissing the report. The statement titled “Aisha Achimugu not arrested by EFCC, says aide” reads “The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has not arrested or detained popular businesswoman and philanthropist Aisha Achimugu; contrary to reports circulating on social media, her media aide, David Abakpa, has said”
Abakpa, while reacting to reports being circulated on two blogs, described such reports as “fake news”.
Abakpa attributed the report to the handiwork of the enemies of his principal who are bent on destroying her hard-earned reputation.
While urging the public to disregard the ‘fake news’, he noted that Mrs Achimugu is not in the country and so could not have been arrested by the EFCC
He said the unfounded rumour was a calculated attempt by unscrupulous elements bent on tarnishing the hard-earned reputation of Achimugu by all means”
Days later, the EFCC released Aisha’s letter of Invite indicating that she’s under investigations and later declared her wanted

Achimugu later confirmed NATIONAL WAVES’ report that she was earlier invited, quizzed and granted bail by the anti graft agency in a suit she filed at a federal high court in Abuja which was presided over by Justice Inyang Ekwo.
The judge issued an order that she should appear before the anti graft agency on Tuesday following a suit filed by Achimugu, seeking an interim injunction to prevent security agencies from arresting or harassing her.
Achimugu, in the suit filed on April 3, asked the court to nullify her declaration as wanted by the EFCC on March 28, calling it “unwarranted, unjustifiable, devoid of probable cause,” designed to humiliate her.
Achimugu’s lawyer said in the affidavit in support of the originating processes that his client had indicated she would return to Nigeria and attend her interview before the anti-graft agency on April 29.
The counsel said his client had indicated her willingness to cooperate with the investigators.
He prayed that the court should order her client to report to the anti-graft agency and continue on the same bail conditions earlier given by the EFCC.
“We will be asking for an order to restrain the respondents from further harassing her,” the lawyer said.
“I refer the court to Paragraph 52 of the counter-affidavit by the 4th respondent (EFCC).
“This indicates that she enjoys bail. We want the court to give an order to protect her. We urge the court to consider that she is coming with her son, who has a special need.” said Achimugu’s lawyer
