In Banana Island one of the choicest area of Lagos State, Afolabi Kazeem Micheal, popularly known as Kay Cee Luxury is regarded as one of the Big Boys in town. He is erroneously regarded as celebrity jeweller and lifestyle influencer. All of that seems to be fading away as he’s currently at centre of ‘$28m (₦39 billion) cocaine bust’

‘KayCee Luxury’, who’s known for flaunting exotic cars and flashy expensive belongings, shimmering boxes of jewellery, and Snapchat reels of trips to Paris and Milan on social media was arrested by the operatives of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) over
his involvement in 184.5kg cocaine deal.

According to the NDLEA chairman, Buba Marwa, operatives of the Agency seized 184.5 kilogrammes of cocaine from a courier company, describing the operation as its largest seizure of cocaine from a courier firm in its history.

Speaking during a press briefing in Lagos on Tuesday, Marwa said the agency arrested two suspects over the cocaine consignment.

The suspects are Afolabi Kazeem Micheal, a socialite popularly known as KC Luxury, and Lawal Kehinde, an employee of a logistics company.

The NDLEA chairman said the seized cocaine consignment is worth $27.7 million, which is approximately N39 billion

Marwa said after the seizure, the agency worked with the management of the logistics company, which led to the arrest of Michael and Kehinde.

According to him, the operation began with the interception of the cocaine consignment concealed for onward export through a courier logistics channel in Lagos.

He said following the seizure, he directed the constitution of a Special Investigation Team to trace the entire network behind the shipment, from the couriers to the masterminds.

Marwa said the cartel hoped to realise as much as ₦39bn from the consignment through its international distribution network.

The NDLEA chairman said Nigeria is being used as a transit hub for illicit drugs to the United Kingdom, some parts of Europe and Asia.

Marwa added that KC Luxury was arrested at the Lagos airport as he made to flee the country.

He said the socialite was found with €7,750, £2,800, N100,000, and expensive jewellery, relaying that exotic vehicles were discovered at the suspect’s luxury apartment in Banana Island, Ikoyi.

“This cartel leader did not walk into our custody voluntarily,” the NDLEA boss said.

“On the night of 13th August 2026, upon credible intelligence that he intended to flee the country on a business-class flight to Paris, our operatives moved decisively and apprehended him at the boarding gate of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, just as he attempted to escape the reach of the law.

“To those who believe they can hide behind luxury brands, glamorous lifestyles, and social media personas while trafficking poison into our communities and across our borders, this Agency will find you.

“It does not matter how well-connected, how wealthy, or how far you attempt to run. As this case demonstrates, we will track you to the departure gate if we must.”
