Inter Miami captain, Lionel Messi, has emulated 41-year-old Portuguese and Al-Nassr
forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, in buying a football club in Spain.
Messi bought UE Cornelia after completing a deal that gives him 100 percent ownership of the Spanish third division team.
This means the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner is now the outright owner of the club.
UE Cornellà currently sit third in their Tercera División group, with five points behind leaders Manresa.
With a playoff place already secured, they are aiming to achieve promotion.
It would be recalled that Cristiano Ronaldo acquired a 25% stake in Spanish second-division club UD Almeria through his company, CR7 Sports Investments last February
Ronaldo became a co-owner of the Andalusian club, which is owned by a Saudi Arabian consortium, aimed at supporting its growth and return to LaLiga.
