The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has mourned the demise of the Sardaunan Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji who died at the age of 94.

In a condolence message signed by Adebayo and made available to NATIONAL WAVES, he wrote

“I received with profound sadness the news of the passing of Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji, CON, the Sardaunan Sokoto, at the age of 94.

“Nigeria has lost a distinguished statesman, accomplished public servant, and patriotic leader whose remarkable career in public service left an enduring legacy. His decades of dedicated service to our nation, including as Minister of Finance, Permanent Secretary, and Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, reflected uncommon wisdom, integrity, and commitment to national development.

“On behalf of my family and supporters, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, His Eminence, Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultanate Council, the Government and good people of Sokoto State under the leadership of Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, and indeed all Nigerians who mourn this great loss.

Adebayo further wrote “the late Sardaunan Sokoto lived a life of honour, humility, and selfless service. His contributions to the progress of Nigeria and the preservation of the noble traditions of the Sokoto Caliphate will continue to inspire generations. I pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) forgives his shortcomings, accepts his good deeds, grants him Aljannatul Firdaus, and grants his family, the Sultanate, and the entire nation the strength and fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.”
